Third Grade has been an active bunch this year. They have participated in many units.

They are:
  • Swimming
  • Cooperative Games
  • Ball Skills
  • Floor Hockey
  • Dance
  • Scooters
The children were fortunate enough to start off the year swimming in the pool with Mr. "Bonehead" Shoulberg. They enjoyed their six weeks of working on their swim strokes, playing games and having free swim every Thursday. The children’s strokes improved greatly from the first day of class until the last.

The next unit the children participated in was Cooperative Games. The children worked well with their classmates to achieve a certain goal. They spent their class time running, tagging, dodging, laughing and strategizing. Some of their favorite games are:

  • Stuck in the Mud
  • Blob Tag
  • Charlie Brown’s Pumpkin Patch
  • Capture the Rings
  • What Time is it Ms. Fox
  • Traffic Jam
Our third unit was Ball Skills. This was one of the children’s favorite units. The children focused on throwing opposites and rotating their hips. On many of the activities that were played they understood the importance of being accurate. They worked on using angles in order to knock a stationary pin down that was being guarded.  The games that the children enjoyed the most were:
  • Bombardment
  • Run the bases
  • Doctor Dodgeball
  • Prison Dodge
The fourth unit that the children participated in was our floor hockey unit. The first week the games that the children played worked on staying low to the ground and looking up while they were dribbling and passing. The additional skills that the children focused on were dodging, shooting, playing good defense, proper positioning, cooperation and communication. By the end of the three weeks Mrs. Vielle’s third grade class could have taken on the Flyers!!!!

The third grade did an excellent job on our Dance unit. They learned and performed line dances, partner dances, circle dances and their favorite Disco!!!! The culminating activity was that the children were to work in groups and create their own dance. Look out New York City we have a lot of talent here at GA!!! The children created dances to the Spice Girls, Aretha Franklin’s Respect, Jock James and NSYNC. The children’s creativity was wonderful. They understood the importance of working together to get a job finished and finished well.

We are not afraid to jump right in…

We are ready to tackle new challenges with confidence and strength!

Reaching new heights…

Either by working together…

…Or just by being ourselves…
