Book Discussion - FAQS

Book discussions, held about every six weeks, are opportunities for students to talk about a book that they have read and enjoyed.  Led by parents and faculty, students are able to share their feelings about their reading in a small group setting.

Will we be in the same sharing groups every time we meet?

No.  You may have one or two of the same people in your group, but we will try to rearrange everyone so that you can share impressions with different people each time.

Why are the boys and girls mixed in the groups?

Often, boys tend to read one type of book while girls may tend to read another genre.  We have mixed boys and girls together hoping that they may discover a new book or author which they might not choose on their own.

I forgot my book at home!  Can I participate?

Absolutely!  Forgetting your book is not the end of the world. You can still present your ideas without showing the cover.

I haven't finished my book!  Can I participate?

Sure!  Describe the book you are in the process of reading and explain why you are enjoying it.

Remember:
The more children read, the better they will read;
the better they read, the more they will want to read.
It's a wonderful cycle!
