Title:  About the B’nai Bagels
Author:  E.L. Koningsberg
Reviewer:   Michael S. ’08

About the B’nai Bagels by E.L. Koningsberg is about a boy named Mark who has some problems. His first problem is that his best friend, Hersch has moved to another town, and he has made a new best friend. Hersch’s best friend is named Barry and Mark doesn’t really like him, so he doesn’t really want to be a part of their friendship. Another problem is that Mark’s Bar Mitzvah is coming up and he isn’t good at speaking Hebrew. His last problem is that his mom is the coach of Mark’s Little League baseball team called the B’nai B’rith Bagels. When Mark hears about this he knows that it is going to be a long season for him, and he hopes that his mother doesn’t do anything weird or stupid to embarrass him. In this story, you will get to know this character, find out how Mark solves his problems, and read his opinion on events that are happening in the story. This is a great book and if you read it you might think the same, too. One reason why I chose to read this book is because one of my favorite books, From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is written by the same author.
