Gracie, a Great Dane, is deaf and blind in one eye. When she is bought by Dan Dye, she changes his life forever. He starts the Three Dog Bakery, a bakery just for dogs, and becomes famous while accomplishing many other things in life. In the beginning of the story Gracie causes so many problems. As she eventually gets older she is in a lot of pain. She can't stand or sit by herself, and eventually they decide to put her to sleep. It is a very emotional story. I have never read a story that is so sad ... especially the ending! But there is no happy ending for this story. If I was as sad as I was, I can't even imagine how Mark and Dan must have felt.
