Alec lets the horse free from its cage, and holds onto the rope tied to horse's neck while the horse swims looking for land. Finally, they reach a deserted shore. The horse and the boy rarely see each other until one day the boy gets on the horse and goes for the ride of his life. Gradually the horse and the boy become closer. One night Alec wakes up to the whinny of the horse and finds that the shelter he had built for himself is in flames.
