A Ceiling of Stars is about a girl named Vivian. Her father dies and her
mother is an alcoholic who abandons her when she is 12. So Viv lives on the streets
of Denver while she looks for her mom. She sometimes stays in a shelter with her
friend, Gabe, who runs the shelter. Her best friend,
Locket, is 15. Together they roam the streets, always trying to avoid the
police. She has other friends too, such as Mags, Skinny Willie, and Sergeant Sam.
They help her survive. She also has enemies like a guy named Fishbone
who always follows them around. They are always trying to get away from him.
She dreams about a place called Camelot because her father used to
tell her stories about this place. This is often her escape from her days on the
street. She finally finds her mother in a hospital and discovers she is an
alcoholic, but will be okay. To find out what happens next, read the book.
This book is very interesting. It is so good that I read it in
one day. It really shows the struggles of Vivian and what she goes through to find
her mom. It is very suspenseful and hard to put the book down because there is not
any part of this book that is boring. You worry that if you put the book
down, something bad might happen to her.
I recommend this book if like to read diaries and journals. This is
also a good book if you like to read about struggles and survival and about kids having
courage and being heroes.
