Have you ever felt like an
outsider? Jean Fritz has. She was born in China longing to go to America, her true home. Her first book, Homesick, My Own
Story, is about the thirteen years she spent in China. The funny thing is, when she moves to America, doing everything average Americans do, she finds that she is homesick for China.
China Homecoming,
the sequel to Homesick, My Own Story, tells about her return to China for a visit as an elderly women. The more time she
spends in China, the more she begins to feel like a real citizen.
Jean Fritz is a wonderful
author. I love how she can describe and remember her emotions so
vividly. This book is also good because it is relevant to the fifth grade's study of China. I can't wait to read more of her books.
