Cinderellis and the Glass Hill is about a boy named Ellis and his older brothers, Ralph and Burt. The story starts out when Ellis is six. He does not know about the power he has to make magical powders. One rainy day a powder he made and put in a tin cup starts to rise into the chimney. Then in a second, it is outside. After that he does this all the time and asks his brothers if they see anything. They will not answer his question. What they would do is try and change the subject by saying something like "Looks like rain today..." or "Hot one, isn’t it Burt!" and ignore him. Then one day Ellis shoots a tin cup up the chimney and a ton of cinders fall in on him. After that his brothers say that a good name for him would be Cinderellis. So that’s what they call him.

Ellis and his brothers live in the kingdom of Brittle. The Princess of Brittle, whose name is Marigold, has a problem. Her father goes on too many quests and she is left in castle for weeks. The quests are to find a fish that can sing and other crazy things. She has only one friend, her cat Apricot. Near the end of the story Marigold is forced to marry by her father. He commands the royal glassmaker to build a hill; golden apples are placed on top. The king makes the princess sit on the top and commands that the first lad to climb the hill and get three golden apples can marry the princess.

To find out if the princess gets off the hill, be sure to read the book.

Cinderellis  lives with his two older brothers who are as tight as nails with each other and always ignoring him.   Cinderellis invents magic powders  (flying powder, shrinking powder, growing powder, etc.),  but his brothers never pay any attention to him.   All Cinderellis wants is to fit in with his brothers.

Faraway in a castle lives a princess.  Her father, the king, is always on quests and leaves the princess all alone.  On one of his quests the king gets in trouble with a monster.  It gives him a curse that won't let the king go on any more quests.  He is devastated because his next quest is to find a husband for his lovely daughter.  So the king comes up with a fantastic (well, fantastic to him)  idea.  He will create a slippery glass hill and anyone who climbs it and gets three golden apples from the princess , who is at the top of the hill,  will marry her.

When the news reaches Cinderellis,  he decides to try it to impress his brothers.  But first he has to figure out what is happening to the grain that is disappearing in the middle of the night.  His brothers have failed to find out why this is happening.

Read this book to find out what happens to Cinderellis.  I  recommend this book to anyone who likes fairy tales that are twisted to be very different and funny
