The City of
Ember is a great book. It is about a city of people who
do not know that there is a world with "real light."
This story has some very exciting moments.

a city that is dying. Doon Harrow suspects that the generator
powering the city will soon run out. He makes an out burst
in the middle of class when the mayor says they all will be
okay. Lina, Doon's friend, goes home one day to find her grandmother
franticly searching for something that is lost. Lina takes
a piece of paper from her sister's, Poppy’s mouth. This
torn piece of paper is what eventually saves Ember. Will the
mayor's secret get him in trouble? Read The City of Ember
to find out what happens to Ember, and what the mayor
is hiding.

The City of
Ember
is about a world without the sun, moon, and stars. There is
light, but it is from generators. The city of Ember is expected
to die out in about 120 years, but no one is worried that
120 years has passed, because they do not know. Lina, the
main character is 12-years-old and has just started a new
job as the messenger of the town. She finds instructions that
are in ruins, and tries to piece them together. Lina thinks
the instructions are the way out of the city, but when she
tells the people of Ember, they don't believe her. However,
her old friend Doon does. Is she making this up, or is it
the truth?
This book is a
definite 10 because of all the discoveries and adventures.
The author describes their world in such a way that it makes
you feel like you are really there.

The City of
Ember
by Jeanne DuPrau is about a city dependent on artificial lights.
Lina Mayfleet and Doon Harrow are two citizens of Ember. Doon
feels strongly that the generator powering the lights will
soon run out. He is correct. The lights powering Ember start
to flicker on and off; some "black outs" last for
several minutes at a time. One day Lina finds her grandmother
searching through their small apartment for "something
important" that her grandmother had told her was there.
Lina starts to help and finds her sister chewing on a piece
of paper. She takes the paper out of her sister's mouth and
collects the bits that have been torn off. Lina discovers
some instructions, and with the help of her friends deciphers
a very important message to the people of Ember. Will the
citizens of Ember believe her, or will they remain in darkness?
The City of
Ember is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone
who enjoys science-fiction, a good adventure, and mystery.

City of Ember
is about
two kids who live in a city where there is never light without
the powerful floodlights. The people of Ember think that they
are the only ones in the world except for "the builders",
but who are they? The city is running out of bulbs and food.
Who will be brave enough to venture into the dark to find
a way to the "second promised land"? To find out
whether they succeed in finding another place before they
are plunged into complete darkness and starve, read on.
This book has a
bit of a mystery in it and a surprise ending. If you likeThe
Giver, then you will like and understand this book
better, but it is still a great read, even if you didn't read
The Giver. |

The City Of Ember, by Jeanne DuPrau is a thriller
about these people who live in a city that will at one point
in time have all it's lights go out. You see, when this
place is built some sort of weird phenomenon happens
and it is the only place that has light. One
girl, Lora, has found directions to get out of the city but
it has been partially chewed up by her baby sister.
Now Lora and a friend of hers, Doon, have to figure out the
riddle so that they can get out. Will they get out in
time? Read the book to find out.
I think that this is
a good book and is an adventure so I think that others should
try it out.
