Jack, his sister Ashley, and their mom and dad decide to take in a foster child. Her name is "Lucky Deal" ... or so she says.  From the moment she sees Jack, Lucky knows that she can trust him.  Jack's mom works at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado.  One day she gets a call that there has been a cougar attack.  This is really rare, so they assume that the cougar is ill and they need to catch it.  The next day they all start out to Mesa Verde, including Lucky.

Soon they realize that Lucky has been lying about a few details she had told Jack and that she is making phone calls in the middle of the night to a girl supposedly named "Miria."  They are determined to get to the bottom of it all, but it is hard for Jack to tell on her since she trusts him.  Read this mystery to find out who Lucky really is and why she is making up schemes and lying about all of her stories.

I love this mystery because it is suspenseful and exciting.  The author makes it seem very real.  If you like this book, try the rest of the National Parks Mysteries.
