Title:  Devil’s Donkey
Author:  Bill Brittain

Devil’s Donkey is about a boy being turned into a donkey by a witch named Old Magda.

The book was about Dan’l, a boy who moved to Coven Tree, with Stew Meat, after Dan’l’s parents died. One day he was sent out to chop wood. He went to Coven Tree to get the wood even though Stew Meat told him to not to go there. The witches would try to see Satan at the tree. A piece of wood came down from the tree and made Dan’l bleed. Now he was under Old Magda’s control. She decided to turn him into a donkey for Mr. Beel (Satan). Whenever someone said "Dang Blasted" Dan’l would turn into a human until someone said "Dang Blasted" again and he would turn back to a donkey. Old Magda gave Dan’l to a family to hide him from everyone. She told them they would have to give the donkey up when Mr. Beel came to town. Mr. Beel came to town and they bargained with Dan’l’s soul with a contest. Dan’l won and was turned back to a real boy.

This book had a lot of suspense and it was also about magic. Anyone who likes those things should read Devil’s Donkey.
