Title:  The Doll in the Garden
Author:  Mary Downing Hann
Reviewer:   Jen M.  '07

Ashley and her mom moved to Monkton Mills on the top floor in grumpy old Miss Cooper’s house. There was a mysterious garden in back of the house where Ashley saw a mysterious white cat always meowing. Ashley’s next door neighbor, Kristi, told Ashley a ghost story about the garden. Kristi mentioned that the white cat belonged to a little ghost girl who always cried at night. While Ashley was in bed one night, she heard the ghost child crying. The next morning, Ashley and Kristi dug in the garden and found an old doll with a note attached. It was addressed to Louisa. Could the ghost child be crying over her doll?

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read ghost stories with suspense.
