(sequel to Dragon of the Lost Sea)
Shimmer and Thorn are on their way to the High King's palace, triumphant in capturing
Civet. But the High King doesn't care and is rude to them. Thorn is outraged
and takes out his knife, but the guards seize him and put Thorn and Shimmer in the
dungeon. The two escape and swim for shelter, but are doomed when they meet karkens,
a type of dragon species. When Shimmer thinks there is no hope, she sees her clan
who fights off the karkens. They take Thorn and her to a volcano where the clan
members are slaves for the High King and where dragon steel is made. Shimmer
promises her clan that she will restore the sea and she leaves to go to the High King's
palace. But how will she restore the sea if Civet has already released it on a
city? Read the book to find out.I really love this
sequel. I find it very sad when Shimmer discovers that her clan has become slaves
for the High King and they are living in poverty. It is also sad when Shimmer is
going to the palace and a gang of karkens block her way, but a sergeant and her troops
risk their lives for Shimmer.
