Eldest is the second book in the Eragon Trilogy by Christopher Paolini. A boy named Eragon finds a dragon egg and joins the Varden. Soon he discovers that his cousin, Roran, has been able to save Eragon's hometown, Carvahall, from utter destruction by the evil Ra'zac. Eragon finds out he isn't the only good rider left. The other rider, Oromis, is retired and he trains Eragon. Finally Eragon learns that he has a brother who is also a rider, but for which side?
Will Eragon survive? Just remember, darkness falls ... swords clash ... and evil reigns.

Eragon, a teenage dragon rider, is victorious at the battle of Farthen Dur, but where must he go now? He must go to Ellesmera to learn more about his powers and when to use them. With the help of a secret the elves have (so secret that even the dark lord doesn’t know about it), Eragon takes his first step in becoming a true rider, powerful enough to overthrow the dark lord.
If you enjoyed Eragon, you will love this book, though I suggest reading Eragon first. To find out what the elves have as a secret weapon and if it is possible to get to Ellesmera, read this incredible book!
