I think Ereth's
Birthday by Avi is a great book.I like it because the
author does such a great job on allowing you to feel Ereth's
emotions. I especially enjoy how he makes the animals talk.
Ereth's Birthday
is about a porcipine named Ereth who is very stingy. When
Poppy, a field mouse and his only friend, forgets his birthday
he decides to get himself a present - salt. He starts on his
trip to the human's cabin. On his way he meets a fox, whose
name is Leaper, and is about to die. She begs him to take
care of her three kits and tell them what happened to her.
Ereth finally agrees. Ereth thinks this is the worst day of
his life. To make matters worse, Marty, the fisher, is out
to kill him. Read what happens to Ereth and the kits in Ereth's
Birhtday by Avi.
I would recommend
this book to people who read another Avi animal books, such
as Poppy...

Ereth's Birthday is
a wonderful book for readers who like animals and
have a good imagination. I like this book because
it is funny and imaginative.
This book is part of the "Poppy" series.
Ereth is a very stubborn but caring porcupine
and today is his birthday. He comes out of his log and
is expecting a birthday present from his best friend Poppy,
a mouse. He is greeted by Poppy and her husband's kids chatting
off their tiny mouths. There is one thing that bugs Ereth
and it is annoying kids. Ereth gets mad and runs away to find
some salt to make him feel better, because if there is one
thing Ereth loves, it's salt. Once he gets to a hunter's house,
which is where he thinks he can find salt, he hears a voice
calling for help. He goes to help and finds a mother fox in
one of the hunter's traps. She can't be helped, but asks Ereth
to find her kits (babies) and take care of them until their
father gets home. Ereth gets to the kits, but Ereth and the
kits need to find the rest of the traps that the hunters set
out, so that the kits can wander and hunt safely.
