This story is called Farmer Boy.  It is about a boy named Almanzo who is a farmer and so is his dad and proves that a life of a farmer is not an  easy one. He makes many decisions and even wins a prize pumpkin.  He is boy that has his whole heart into farming just like his dad and works hard and learns how to do many new things.  He proves to his father that he's responsible and capable of teaching the baby colts.  This is a heart-warming book that really has a good moral, "You have to work hard at something if you want a good result".

Farmer Boy is about Almonzo, an eight-year-old boy, who lives on a farm with his family. Almonzo has to do chores everyday and when his father needs him to stay home and help with crops or chopping wood, Almonzo must miss school. Almonzo enjoys helping his father whenever he can.

I like this book because it is about helping, cooperating, and a loving family. I recommend reading Farmer Boy and other books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
