Title:  The Good Liar
Author:  Gregory Maguire
Reviewer:  George R. '11

The Good Liar is a story about three brothers. They live in a small town in France during World War II. France has lost to Germany and the brothers think that the war is very far away. The brothers, during the summer, spend their time fishing, playing soldiers, and seeing who is the best liar. Then the German army takes over their village. A German soldier comes to their house to see their mom because she is a doctor. But they lie and say that their mother is not home. After that they begin to feel guilty about their lie. The youngest boy starts a friendship with one of the German soldiers. He finds out that his mother has been hiding a Jewish family in their attic. The end of the book is about how this little boy believes that it's ok to lie to protect or help someone. I think this book is a good book for people who like danger and excitement
