I read the novel called, Hands That Break… Hands That Heal. It is a great book about a man named “Paul Strong,” who is a journalist and a volleyball coach at the school St. Luke’s. There are almost two stories in one in this book, because his working life and coaching life bring him two huge events he won’t ever forget. Also, there is a big third part of this book, smaller than the other big parts. The third part of the book is a girl, a special girl that is in his work life, and coach life. She is unlike all the other girls on Coach Paul’s team. Her name is Becky Chapman, and she tries to set up the volleyball net pole in one of the first practices and it falls on her hand and smashes it. But Becky doesn’t complain she won’t be able to play the rest of the season or anything she simply just raised her thumb, index finger, and pinkie with her uninjured hand as she goes to the hospital. Later Becky and her mother, (her father had died), tell the team what the hand sign meant. They said it was When Mr. Chapman was about to die, he did this hand sign to his daughter. They said it means, “I’m ok, you’re ok, I love you.” Everyone is moved by this. The whole book has things like that. And that’s only one. Also in the book is a missing deed, a found deed Two lying cheaters finally beaten at their own game, and a couple being reunited after 75 long years. This book is really awesome, and I hope you’ll read and love it just like me!
