Indigo is an adventure book, which teaches you the power of finding your true identity. Indigo is about a 13-year-old girl, Martha, who lives in a town full of dry, horrible things. In this town there are rules about using too much water. Martha’s dream is to leave Oak Grove and the dryness, and go to New York City, Paris, or San Francisco. One day Martha and her two best friends, who also have a desire to leave the town, sneak out. To find out what happens read Indigo.

In Oak Grove no one likes water, except two boys who have web fingers and toes.  Their names are Trevor and Eli McGill.  Everyone finds these boys extremely weird, except one girl, Martha Glimmer, who happens to be their best friend.  Together the three of them go on a trip by themselves to the beach to live there until something bad happens to cause them to turn around.

Water Tales is two mermaid novels by Alice Hoffman.

Water Tales

The first one, Aquamarine, is about two friends who go to a broken-down swim club. The club is going out of business and the pool is shut down. The only one who is still there besides the 2 girls is the teenage boy who runs the snack bar.  After a big storm, they find a washed-up stranded mermaid in the pool. The mermaid, Aquamarine, is very stubborn and won't leave the pool until she is introduced to the teenage boy.

Finally the girls make up a plan to grant the mermaid her wish. The story is very suspenseful because Aquamarine's time away from the ocean is limited. Will she meet the boy before her time is up?

Indigo is the second novel and is about two very unusual adopted  brothers who find out a big secret about their past that may help them save their town from a big flood.  I recommend this double- header to anyone who enjoys reading about the sea.

Indigo is a very interesting book in a way I just can’t explain. The book's main characters are Trevor and Eli McGill, and Martha Glimmer, the brothers’ loyal friend. Trevor and Eli are unique in their appearance in that they have webbing between their fingers and their toes. Everyone in the town of Oak Grove hates water because of a terrible flood that damaged the town and their likings of water. The McGill brothers are the only people in the town who do not hate water -- in fact they have dreams about far off seas. While the three friends try to run away they are taken back to their hometown and meet up with another flood. You should read this book to find out what happens in this next flood.

I recommend this book to people who like water and sea beings. This book is adventurous and a page-turner.
