Island Book One: Shipwreck by Gordon Korman
is about 6 kids, J.J, Luke, Will, Ian, Lyssa, and Charla,
troublemakers, sent on a reform trip by their parents or the court.
They are all on a charter boat (their punishment) in the Pacific Ocean
when a tropical storm hits. During the storm the captain falls
overboard and the ship starts to leak, very slowly sinking. Then, one
night, the first mate (the only other adult) abandons them by rowing
away on a dingy. When the boat finally sinks, the kids must fight for
survival. Will they survive?
I recommend this to any one who likes suspense
and adventure.

thrown together on a boat. They are forced together by either their parents or the
law. They are supposed to work together to learn teamwork and respect for other
people. But disaster strikes when the boat's captain drowns in a storm and the first
mate abandons them. As they are stuck on a sinking ship with the presence of doom
lurking over them, they are forced to work as a team for the first time. After the
ship's motor explodes, lighting the ship on fire, Luke, Will, Charla, and Ian drift to an
island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Will they find a means of
surviving? Or will they perish under the harsh conditions?
