Elizabeth doesn’t have many friends. Everyday she walks through the woods to school alone. While she walks to school on Halloween day, she spots someone sitting on a branch. The stranger hops down from the tree and introduces herself as Jennifer. Elizabeth is very pleased that she has made a new friend. After a few days, Jennifer tells Elizabeth that she is a witch and Elizabeth agrees to become an apprentice witch. They meet every Saturday to discuss what ingredients they need to make a flying ointment. Finally the day comes to perform the spell. When it comes time to drop in the toad, Elizabeth yells, "Stop!" Jennifer gets really mad because the spell was ruined. Elizabeth cries all the way home because she knows she has lost her one and only friend. Will the two ever repair their friendship?
