| This story is about Daniel Arabus, a
black boy from Connecticut, and it takes place right after the Revolutionary War. Daniel's
father fights in the war and wins his freedom from a man named Captain Ivers. But
when Dan's dad dies, the captain's wife, Mrs. Ivers, takes the notes that would give money
and freedom to Dan and his mother. Dan steals them back, but Captain Ivers finds out
and puts Dan on a boat heading for the West Indies. Dan has to jump ship off the
coast of New York. After reaching shore, Dan finds people to help him get to
Philadelphia where he meets Alexander Hamilton and George Washington. They go against
Captain Ivers and get Dan his freedom and enough money to free his mother and build a
house in Pennsylvania. I recomend this book to anyone who
wants to read historical fiction. I think it is also a good adventure story.
