The name of the book I read is called MAKE-BELIEVE BALL PLAYER by
Alfred Slote. This book is about a clumsy boy named Henry who plays
make-believe sports in his back yard instead of real sports. Previously,
he had played
real sports but always ended up losing the game for his team. One day
a
burglar breaks into Henry’s house while he is home alone. Henry
scares away
the burglar by making scary noises. He then becomes famous because of
a
newspaper report on the event. Henry gains confidence and decides to
give
real baseball another chance. If you read this book you will find out
how Henry
does playing real baseball.
I feel this book was only O.K. I really prefer more exciting and
adventurous
books or books on sports. This book's only excitement is when the
burglar is
in Henry’s house and there really isn’t much detail on the baseball
games. The
story is mostly about the character of Henry.
