This story is about a boy named Jeffrey Magee, but everyone calls him Maniac Magee because he does some crazy stuff.  His mom and dad died when they tried crossing a bridge when Maniac was a baby.  He stays with his uncle and aunt, but they kept getting mad at each other and Maniac runs away.

It is a very sad story and when you read it, it feels like you're in his position.

Maniac Magee is about a boy who grows up with his aunt and uncle, who despise each other. One day the boy finally runs away because he can't stand how his aunt and uncle hate each other. He ends up in a neighborhood where a great conflict is happening between the black people and the white people.

They call him Maniac Magee because he can do a lot of unusual things, such as untieing a huge knot. It make people hate him because he shows them up. He tries to bring both sides together, but it doesn't work. He gives up and goes to another town to get away from the people making fun of him.

One night he is sleeping and two black friends come to get him to come back to the town. He agrees to go and feels that now he has a home.

I think that this is a very interesting book and I recommend it because it shows how hard life can be sometimes and how lucky people are to have a home.
