Miss Spider's Tea Party by David Kirk is
about Miss Spider and her lonely life. Although she is a spider, and
spiders are scary, she feeds only on flowers. The other bugs think
differently though. Miss Spider has tried inviting the beetles,
fireflies, bumblebees, ants, butterflies and moths but all of them run
away in mortal dread before she can explain that she eats only
flowers. Will Miss Spider convince the bugs that she will do them no
harm, or will they stay her enemies forever?
This book is one of my favorite picture books. The
words rhyme and the pictures are delightful. I especially liked having
this book read to me. Miss Spider's Tea Party is written
so that it is enjoyable for a kid but also for an adult. I think that
this book would be good for anyone, any age!
