The woodland creatures in Mossflower are under the strict and cruel rule of Tsmarnia, a bloodthirsty wildcat who always wants to be the best and the most feared.  She takes food away from the Woodlanders to feed her army, so they have nothing left for their families.  Martin, a warrior mouse, comes to Mossflower not knowing a raging wildcat is ruling.  He gets imprisoned in the cells of Kiotir, the wildcat's castle and her army's home.  Martin isn't alone for very long because a chubby mouse named Gnoff gets thrown in with him. Martin and Gnoff, his new, talkative friend, escape from the cells of Kiotir with help from the Woodlanders.  Martin meets a nice, caring badger named Bella.  She asks Martin and Gnoff to go to Salamandastron to seek out her father, Boar the fighter.  They agree, but Dinny the mole ends up coming with them.  Will Martin, Gnoff, and Dinny make it to Salamandastron?  Will they find Boar the fighter and bring him back to Mossflower?  Read this exciting, page-turning book to find out.
