| This story is about a girl named Clara and
her family. They live in Austria during the beginning of World War II. They
are treated badly and many other Jewish people are missing. Her family decides they
must leave but escaping will be very dangerous. With only the things they can carry
they begin their dangerous journey, on a night crossing. They have to leave very late at
night in order to climb the mountains over to the Swiss border. At first they hide out in
an old barn at the bottom of the mountain and then about half way up they go and stayed in
an old couple's house. But in the end they are all settled in their new house in
Switzerland. The book has some interesting facts but I could
always predict what is going to happen, which makes it boring. The author does not
do a very good job of creating suspense. If you are interested in knowing what life
during WWII read the book, if not I wouldn't recommend it.
