This book Super Hoops is about a kid my age,
eleven, who loves to play basketball. His name is Will Hopwood.
Will plays in a summer league on a team that is coached by his older
brother, Jim. In one game Will breaks his arm, and the second string
center named Chunky has to play. Chunky is really bad, so Will starts
giving him lessons, but soon Will starts feeling really bummed out
about not playing.
One time Will doesn't go to one of the lessons he
is giving Chunky. Jim's friend, Nate, also coaches the b-ball team.
Nate's dad, who owns a store right across the street from the court
where Will holds the lessons, says that it is important to stick with
your teammates, so Will goes back over to the court, and there is his
favorite b-ball player named Harold Roberts. He finds out that Harold
Roberts is his friend, Derek's, dad. Then their last game of the
season they win.
I really like this book because it tells you that
when you're on a basketball team you should stick with your
teammates. I recommend this book to people who like books about
sports and sticking together.
