| John Sager and his family are heading west
on the Oregon Trail in 1844 to get more land. On the way John's mother has a baby
named Henritta. At a rest point John gets left behind and is caught by Indians who take
his clothes. While John is trying to get back to his family, he meets the man who will
become his hero, Kit Carolson, who helps John find his family again. Later on, John's
father dies from dysentery and John becomes the man of the house. John's mother also dies.
John is their only hope for the future. I can't tell you the ending of the book, so
you'll have to read it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure. Spring 2002 |
