When Katie O'Roak receives an invitation
from the One Last Wish Foundation to spend the summer at Jenny House, a house for ill
children, she is so excited. The money Katie receives from an unknown person, JWC, enables
her to have a heart transplant which saves her life. Now Katie is acting like a big
sister at Jenny House to a lot of kids, especially three: Amanda who is 13 and has
leukemia, Chelsea who is 14 and is a candidate for a heart transplant, and Lacey who is 16
and has diabetes. Lacey will not confess to having a real illness and does not like
being with sick kids. When help is offered she just gets mad. As the summer
progresses the four girls become really good friends with each other. When Amanda gets
dangerously ill, they find that their friendship is able to get them through this tragedy.
