When baby Sonora receives gifts from the fairies, one gift makes her smart and another one makes her super smart.  One evil fairy though, who shows up uninvited, is super mad, so she casts an evil spell on Sonora.  If Sonora pricks her finger, she will die.  The last fairy has pity on Sonora and her parents, so she makes sure Sonora won't die, but everyone in the castle will sleep for 100 years.  Except for her parents, Sonora is not liked by everyone because of her super smarts.  One day Sonora's mother is running with a spindle and Sonora runs into her and gets pricked by it.  Everyone in the castle falls asleep.  Read this great book, which is part of The Princess Tales series, to find out what happens.

Princess Sonora and the Long Sleep is based on Sleeping Beauty. Sonora’s gifts from the fairies were all good until the evil fairy, who wasn’t invited to Sonora’s ceremony, made the curse that Sonora will prick herself with a spindle and die. Luckily, a fairy changed it to when she pricks herself, Sonora and the whole castle will sleep for 100 years. They can only be awakened if a prince comes along and kisses Sonora. Sonora is forced to marry a prince that she doesn’t like at all. She chooses to prick herself after he left the castle; but when the Queen was cleaning out Sonora’s room, she found a needle. She took the spindle and ran down the hallway. Sonora was coming down the other side, and they collided with the Queen holding the needle.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about fairy tales and who read Ella Enchanted.
