I read the book Rifles for Watie. The book
takes place during the Civil War. Jeff, the main character,
enlists in the Union army with a couple of his buddies. He thinks it
will be one of the highlights of his life. It turns out to be the
scariest, and most depressing thing he will ever experience. One of
his buddies deserts the army because he's so scared.
I recommend this book to boys from ages 11 to 16.
It is a wonderful book that is action packed! It is one of my
favorites!
