Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself is about an imaginative little girl named Sally and her life down in Miami Beach, Florida. The book starts out in New Jersey. After Sally’s brother Douglas gets badly injured at the park, the doctor says that it would be best for Douglas to be in the sun to recover.  So Sally, her brother, her mother, and her grandmother move to Miami Beach. Unfortunately, Sally’s father has to stay back in New Jersey to work.

While in Florida, Sally gets involved in lots of adventures.  She goes on a blimp and tries out to meet Margaret O’Brien, her favorite actress, in a contest.  She also pretends to be a detective and a movie star. And that’s not even all that happens.  She falls in love with her classmate Peter Horstein.
I would recommend this book to people who like to be surprised by different events. There were a lot of exciting things that go on at once.  However, I would recommend this book to girls more than boys.  I say this because sometimes there was a little romance.  Overall  I would rate this book a 7 out of 10.
