Six Months to Live is about a
girl named Dawn Rochelle who gets a type of cancer called leukemia
when she is thirteen. In the hospital, Dawn gets a roommate
named Sandy Chandler. They become best friends and hope to be
together forever. Dawn feels as though Sandy is the only person
in the whole wide world who understands how she is feeling because
they both have cancer and are struggling through hard times together.
Unfortunately, when they take chemo, their long beautiful hair
begins to fall out. Dawn is so upset because she has been trying to
grow her hair as long as possible.
By the summer, the chemo they have been taking succeeds, and so the
two girls can go home to live a normal life. They have finally
made it to remission. Together they both go to sleep away camp for
kids who have cancer. They have the best time of their lives.
They promise each other to return every summer.
But after camp ends, Dawn gets a letter in the mail from Sandy. It
says she is no longer in remission. Her cancer has returned.
Does she survive? Does Dawn’s cancer ever return to her
like Sandy’s? Read this exciting book to find out!
This is one of the best books I ever
read! It is a real page turner. Once you start, you never
want to put it down. You really do get everything in just one
book. There are exciting parts, sad parts, and even scary parts.
I would recommend this book to just about everyone. If you
don’t like really sad books, this might not be the perfect book for
you. It might even make you cry. If I were to rate this
book from 1-10, I’d rate it a 10!
