in the Dust is about two little girls and their life during the Dust Bowl. One of the
girls is named Violet; the other is Annie. Violet is into books and pretend games, but
Annie is into archeology because she finds arrow heads in the sand. One day, the only cow
left from Violet’s herd dies, so the family must move to California. Annie is very
sad that her friend, Violet, is leaving.
