the beginning of Brian’s Return, Brian gets in a fight with a boy named
Carl. Carl gets hurt so badly that he has to go to the hospital. Several days later, Brian
goes to a man named Caleb, a family guidance counselor. Caleb helps Brian gather up
courage to ask his mother if he can go back to the wilderness. (Paulsen has written two
other books with Brian as the main character.) Brian is allowed to return to the
wilderness. One day, when it is raining, Brian is sitting inside of his tent. The tent
slips down a hill and Brian gets an arrow stuck in his leg.
Brian has lots of obstacles to overcome. You should read
the book to find out how he overcomes them.
