Stephanie A. ‘08 As part of a peace treaty with Carthak, King Jonathan, the ruler of
Tortall, sends Daine to help the emperor’s birds that have suddenly gone ill. Daine
is amazed at the beautiful sights and the glitter of the palace. Daine has to be careful
to hold her tongue with the emperor in order to help the peace between the Carthak and
Tortall. At the same time, Daine’s magic is growing again, and if the emperor finds
out, who know what might happen? Under all the glitter of the palace, something bad is
bound to happen!

Daine’s fascinating adventures in the series The Immortals. Daine fights
immortals and many other weird animals. She finds friends in faraway places and has a pet
dragon. In this adventure, the third in the series, she goes to Carthak to find out why
the emperor’s birds are ill. There is something much more dangerous and frightening
underneath the unhealthy birds. You will have lot of fun reading about Daine’s
adventures.
