The Fighting Ground is about a thirteen year old boy, Jonathan, who learns to handle a gun during the Revolutionary War. Someone comes to his village and says, "The Hessians are coming." The villagers gather a small party of people and Jonathan goes with them taking a gun borrowed from the bar owner. This is a story about his adventures in battle.

I recommend this book to people who like stories about war that are not too bloody.
