Island is about an eleven-year-old boy named Clay. His dad loses his job and his
mother runs away from their welfare hotel. Clay is living on the streets and he meets
Buddy and Calvin. They become good friends. One day, Calvin disappears and Buddy and Clay
look all over the city for him. Eventually, they give up because they can’t find him.
Later, Clay finds out where his mom has gone. The book tells about
why she ran away. To find out why his mom left, and if he finds his good friend, read Monkey
Island.
