| Title: Tales and Poems of Edgar Allen Poe |
| Author: Edgar Allen Poe |
Reviewer: Ben S. '06
Edgar Allen Poe was a writer of horror stories. He adds sudden twist endings like with The
Black Cat, a story about a man that goes mad and tortures anything around him. He
kills his wife and his black cat. The black cat comes back to haunt the man and to convict
him of murder. I also enjoyed reading The Tell-Tale Heart mostly because of the
intense ending. The most difficult story for me to understand was The Cast of the
Amontillado because it was not only a story of revenge but it also was a story about
people and fine wines and how they determined the wines from one another. I became
interested in Poes writings when I read Ray Bradburys The Martian
Chronicles which mentioned Poes, "House of Usher."11/13/98
