Racing the Sun is about a boy who is part Native American. His grandfather comes to the boy’s house to live because he is sick and cannot live alone. When grandfather arrives, he teaches his grandson many styles of doing things. At first, the grandson and the grandfather don’t get along. In time, they do.

Racing the Sun got its title because every morning the grandfather woke the grandson up before dawn, and the grandson had to run until the sun came up.
