I read the book Sarah Plain and Tall . This
story is about a girl named Anna, her little brother Caleb, and their
Papa. Anna's mother died after she gave birth to Caleb a preyty long
time ago. Papa is very lonely and writes something asking for a wife.
A woman named Sarah answers and comes to visit them for a while on
their farm to see if she likes the new life and of course Anna, Caleb,
and Papa. Sarah used to live by the sea and now misses it and her
brother, who also lives by the sea. But Papa is very happy and likes
Sarah a lot- so do Anna and Caleb. Will Sarah stay or got back to her
home by the sea with her brother? Read the book to find out.

| Reviewer: Brandon M. '07 Anna’s mother died right after Caleb was born. So it is just
Anna, Caleb and their dad in the house out in the plains. One day, their dad decides that
Anna and Caleb need a mom, and he thinks that he needs a wife. He puts an ad in a
newspaper for a wife. A little after he puts in the ad, he gets a response from Sarah, who
lives in Maine with her brother. That night at supper, Papa tells his kids about Sarah.
The next day they all write letters to her.
