The Skin I’m In is about Maleeka, a twelve-year-old girl, whose father died when she was five. Everyone at her school teases her because she wears funny clothing since her mother is poor. Another girl at her school, who lives with her college-age sister, is a bully. The sister has parties and gives the bully money. The bully has nice clothes and Maleeka makes a deal with her. If the bully gives her nice clothes to wear, Maleeka will do her homework for her. One day the bully asks Maleeka to do something she doesn't want to do.

To find out how Maleeka gets out of her problems with the bully, read The Skin I’m In.
