When Will This Cruel War Be Over is about a thirteen year old girl, Emma, who
lives through one of America’s hardest time, the Civil War. The Yankees take over her
house as their headquarters and Emma has to live through the tragic death of some of her
family members. Some of them are killed fighting the the war, some are killed by the
Yankees invading their homes, and some starve to death because their food is stolen. Worst
of all, Tally, the boy who Emma wants to marry after the war is over, is fighting and Emma
doesn’t know if he will live through this awful war.Read
