Part I - Family Journal Assignment                                 

            This journal will be graded in two parts.  The first part will include the first four entries.  These are from the years 1609 – 1616, 1623, 1693, and 1735.  Each journal entry is worth 20 points and must include the following:

¨     First entry must tell what happened to the relative who came to Jamestown in 1609.  It must also introduce the reader to your family, and include major historical events that has affected your family.

¨     Second entry written in 1623.  Must tell about events that took place in Jamestown between 1616 and 1623.  It must also tell about the settlement in Plymouth, mentioning Strangers and Separatists.

¨     Third entry must be written in 1693.  It must tell about the Salem witch trials.  You should also update your family.

¨     Fourth entry written in 1735.  This entry should tell about your colony and include the research that you did. 

In addition to the actual journal entries, you will be graded on creativity (worth 10

points) and your writing style which includes clear language, proper grammar, capitals when needed, punctuation, and proper spelling (worth 10 points)

Part II - Williamsburg Journal

            This journal also has four entries and they will be graded as a unit.  In this part of the assignment, you had to do the following:

¨     Explain your character and what he or she did.  (15 points)

¨     Choose one public event and discuss it. (visit to shop or tavern, a meal, a church service, games children play)  (10 points)

¨     Choose one personal event that you experienced and discuss it. (courtship, legal proceeding, fire, travel, marriage, election, birth of a child)  (10 points)

¨     Choose two political events including how you voted at Revolutionary Points of View.  ( feelings about England and or America, Proc. Of 1763, Stamp Act, Quartering Act, Townshend Duties, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Intolerable Acts, Rev. Pts. Of View)  (30 points)

In addition to the actual journal entries, you may have included letters from family

members (5 points), repeated interaction with a friend (5 points), repeated mention of a family member and your interaction with him or her (5 points).

            You had to hand in your yellow packet and be sure that it was completely filled out.  This was worth 20 points.
