Kick the Can

State the name of your game and why you chose it.

Sarah:  The name of our game is Kick the Can.  I chose it because it sounded like a cool game and I had never heard about it until now.

List the countries where it is played and its origin.

It is played in the city and it is so old that it was probably played by my grandfather.

Describe how your game is played. State the object of the game. Clearly describe the rules.

• You play our game by kicking a can that is placed in a circle on a hard surface like blacktop. 
• You get an old can like a vegetable or coffee can and you put it in the middle of a safe place because this is "base."  At some point a ton of people will be running at it.
• One person is it.  The rest of the people go and hide.  The object of the game is for the "it " person to see you.
• The "it" person must say "I see so & so over there behind/under/near/in something."   At that point the person hiding must go to base.  If the "it" person is mistaken, the person identified doesn't have to come out of hiding. 
• After the "it" guesses someone everyone else must hide somewhere else without being caught.
• If  "it" ventures up too far away from the can someone can come up behind them and kick the can to free everyone who has been captured up to that point.  If someone kicks the can the "it" must count to 100 while everyone hides again.
• The object is to see or tag everyone before a free-er kicks the can.  The first person captured is then it.

List the equipment needed.

• A sturdy can
• Enough room for multiple people to hide.

Make recommendations for what type of athlete would enjoy playing this game. What skills does it demand?

Sarah:  I recommend this game to any athlete that has free time, has a big group of friends and is looking for a fun game to play.  This is a fun, simple and quick game to play.  It doesn't require many materials.
