PowerPoint is an application that will help
you assemble professional looking slides to be used in your oral presentations.
Each slide can contain text, pictures, sounds, colorful backgrounds and
transitions.
Step
One - Launch the PowerPoint application
from the Launcher, or the Microsoft Office icon on the top left of the desktop.

Step Two - A dialogue box will appear; choose "Pick
a Look Wizard"; hit next; on next dialogue box, choose "On
Screen Presentation"; hit next; on next dialogue box select the
radio button for the background you want; hit finish.

Step
Three - A title slide is your first
slide. It has two text boxes one for your title and one for a subtitle.
Select the word "Title" and type in the title of your presentation.
Select the word "Subtitle" and type in your first name
and last initial.
Step Four - The color, size and position of your text can be changed See"Working with Text".

Step Five
-Add a new slide by hitting
the first icon just to the right of center on the bottom of the screen,
"New Slide". A dialogue box appears with a large selection
of slides. Select the second slide on the top row for all your slides, then
hit OK.
Step Six - Select the word "title" and type in the title
of your slide. Click into the bullet text box and type the points you wish
to discuss. Hit return after each point and a new bullet will appear.
Step Seven - You can add pictures to your slides, See "Working with images".
Step Eight - Repeat Steps Five through Seven for each new
slide. Save your work often!

Step Nine - Add transitions and builds to your finished
presentation. A transition is the action which will happen as you leave
one slide to go to another. On the bottom left , choose the third icon which
is called slide sorter. The screen will be covered with miniatures of each
slide.
Step Ten - Add a transition by selecting a slide; on the top
left of the screen there is a long rectangle with the words "no
transition"; click and hold on the icon and a long list
of transitions will appear; scroll down to select your choice. Do this for
each slide!

Step Eleven
- Add a build to any slide
that has bullets. When you apply build your bulleted points will not appear
all at the same time but bullet will appear with each click of the mouse.
Go to the top of the page:. to the right of center there is a long rectangle
with the words "no builds"; click and hold on the
icon and a long list of builds will appear; scroll down to select your
choice. Do this for each slide with bullets!
