Power Point This is a computer application used for putting together a presentation. ItÕs basically an electronic slide show that lets you create slides with backgrounds, text, images, sounds, etc. Once you have created your slides, you can move through the slide show with the click of a mouse. Internet Browser The Internet browser is the application that lets you get around on the Internet. It provides you with the forward and back buttons, the bookmarks or favorites, all of the stuff that lets you go places on the web. It also allows you to download things from the web, including images, text, movies, sounds, music, etc.
Scanner The scanner is a piece of hardware that is basically the electronic equivalent of a Xerox machine. You place an image or text on the flatbed and use the software on the computer to activate the scanner. It will take a digital image of whatever youÕve placed on the flatbed so you can use it in various applications.
Microsoft Word (word processor) ItÕs a good idea to take advantage of Microsoft WordÕs Spell Check and Grammar Check before putting text into a Power Point presentation. After youÕve done your writing in Microsoft Word, you can cut and paste it into any other application youÕre using or import it. Another thing that makes life easy is when you use your word processor for printing things from the Internet. Often, there is a lot more junk on a web page than you need, and printing a web page from your browser can take a long time and waste paper and ink. Instead, highlight what you want to print off the web, copy, then paste it into Word and print. You can do this with text or images. Click here for instructions.
