Each student will write a poem according to a five line formula, submit with it an accompanying illustration. Students will create a poster for their poem utilizing Macromedia Dream weaver .  Students will post their work to the school website were visiters can hear them reciting their poems..

  1. Students may choose a topic from a list of suggestions, some of which are a sport, a day of the week, a food, an article of clothing, weather, a season, a color, etc..   
  2. Students will then write a cinquain according to the following formula:
    • Line 1:  Noun
    • Line 2:  Two adjectives
    • Line 3:   Three verbs
    • Line 4:   A descriptive phrase
    • Line 5:   Synonym for the noun in Line 1
  3. Students will have two peers review their writing and then submit it to the teacher for approval.
  4. For homework students will e-mail their poems to their school accounts and create an illustration using crayons, colored pencils, or colored markers on an 8  1/2  X 11 inch sheet of paper.
  5. The word document will be saved in your folder in GA Filer>Curricular Projects>cinquins.stwk02.
  6. They will report to the Middle School Computer Assisted Learning Center where they will access their poems and transfer them to web pages using Macromedia Dreamweaver  
  7. They will make an interesting title using the text features of Macromedia Fireworks saving it as a .png file and also exporting it as a .gif file. They will place the .gif file on their w page at the top.
  8. They will then scan their illustrations in. gif format and place them on their web pages.
  9. They will then complete the links to their web pages.

Each students work will be evaluated for the following:

  Language Content (50%)

Art work    (30%)

Technology  (20%)

By completing this project students will have reviewed vocabulary, served as editors, and reinforced technology skills to which they were introduced earlier in the year.
