¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos a la Florida!

Process

Here are some steps to assist you in the completion of your project.

  1. Create a folder on your disk that will hold all your pages and images for this project. You can find directions for this in PageMill Step by Step Instructions
  2. Using Netscape look through the resources provided for information about your topic. You will multitask between a word processing document and Netscape as you copy the information regarding your topic. Make sure to copy the address of this site for reference purposes. You will then print the word processed document as a resource to help you write your piece.
  3. Open Page Mill and write a one or two paragraph explanation of your topic in your own words. Save your work as in your folder with a file name of not more then 8 letters and the extension .htm.
  4. Select a background a background color for your page.
  5. Select graphics for your page by going to the Curricular Technology site on the G.A. homepage. Select "Web Page Creation, Tutorials, and Design Help." Scroll down "Icons for Pages" . See what images suit your topic. Save your images to your icon folder with a file name of not more then 8 letters. Make sure to keep the extension of the original file. (eg. fish.gif)
  6. You might wish to return to the resources to save some pictures to enhance your page. You can do this by finding the picture and then clicking on it and hold down the mouse button. A menu will appear. Select "Save Image As". Make sure the file's name is not more then 8 letters and then save it in the icon folder that you created for this project. Remember that all images may be copyrighted, so you will need to write for permission to use the images. Check the page from on which you found the image for copyright information and/or an e-mail address.
  7. Once you have all the items that you need, it is time to design your layout and to place them on your page. To refresh your memory you may wish to read the Quick Start Tutorial for Page Mill.
  8. You can experiment with various colors for your text . Remember you are being graded the overall design look. Is your page pleasing to the eye ? Do I want to read it? Also you are being graded on the accuracy of the information and the compatibility of the graphics to your topic.
  9. The final step will be to link your project to the G.A. homepage.
